BMW R75/6 Speedometer boot replacement

This cable boot is dried out and cracked, allowing water to enter the gear box by flowing along the cable.  It needs to be replaced.

Sliding the old boot up reveals a rusted cable end and a worn out looking bushing.

The retaining bolt, which also secures the battery ground to chassis cable, is removed and the bushing lifted out along with the speedometer driven gear.

The old boot is cut off of the cable and the new one slides on over the cable end.  A bit of silicon grease is used to expedite this process.

The reinstalled cable is ready for the retaining bolt to be installed.
