Montebello Observing (July 3, 2011)

While waiting for it to get good and dark a plane heading into San Francisco International Airport happened past this beautiful crescent moon

Montebello is a great "local" place for Bay Area amateurs to go observing, but there is a fair amount of ambient light from the metropolis below.  Still, in this photo, the Milky Way is visible, as are the various constellations and some Messier objects.
